Scholarships

We invite you to explore the wonderful scholarship opportunities offered for new and current students at The º£½ÇÖ±²¥app School. All scholarship applicants must be Australian Citizens or holders of an Australian Permanent Resident Visa (you may be required to provide a copy of your PR status, as part of the application process).

Performing Arts

School of Performing Arts (SPA) Scholarships

These scholarships present an incredible opportunity for talented young performers who have a passion in the areas of dance and musical theatre, drama, and/or music to join our vibrant and thriving performing arts program at º£½ÇÖ±²¥app. SPA Scholarships are available to new and current students entering into Years 6–12 in 2025 and offer up to a 50% tuition fee discount, tenable to the completion of Year 12.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the audition, recent school reports and an interview. SPA Scholarships are not related to the Academic Scholarship testing.

The Music Faculty are inviting instrumentalists with skills in the following areas to apply for a scholarship: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba and percussion. All instrumentalists are required to have completed at least Grade 5 AMEB or equivalent, and ideally have the ensemble experience and skills to participate in the instrumental program.

Auditions for Dance and Musical Theatre, Drama, and Music will be held at The º£½ÇÖ±²¥app School. In addition to the room or rooms used for the auditions, a waiting area will be provided. At least two members of the SPA staff will form the Audition Panel and the Head of the SPA program will be present for all auditions. A parent or carer may accompany each applicant to the audition venue but may not be present while the applicant is performing. The decision of the Audition Panel is final and binding on all applicants.

The Jeffery Molesworth Boyes Choral Scholarship

These scholarships present an exciting opportunity for talented young vocalists who have a passion for singing and choral performance to join our vibrant and thriving music program at º£½ÇÖ±²¥app. These scholarships are for current or new students entering Years 5–12 in 2025 and offers up to a 75% tuition fee discount, tenable to completion of Year 12.

Community Scholarships

Justice Clark Boarding Scholarship

This scholarship is for a boarding student entering Burbury House in Years 7–11 and offers up to a 100% tuition fee discount, tenable to the completion of Year 12.

Our boarders experience a genuine family atmosphere within our spacious on-campus boarding facility that overlooks the River Derwent. Boarding provides an opportunity for students to be mentored and supported in a welcoming and safe environment, forming meaningful friendships with each other, while receiving exceptional support from academic and support staff.

This scholarship is means tested. Boarding fees apply.

Lady Franklin Scholarship

This scholarship is for a new student entering Power of 9 (Year 9) for 2025 and offers up to a 50% tuition fee discount, tenable to the completion of Year 12.

Fundamental to the º£½ÇÖ±²¥app experience is the unique Power of 9 program. Students spend a term at our waterfront facility where they experience outdoor challenges around Tasmania and Australia that extend every student, developing skills, passions, positive attitudes and character. Challenge locations include Port Davey, Tasmanian wilderness, Central Australia and overseas.

This scholarship is means tested and is available to a student who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend the School.

The º£½ÇÖ±²¥app Community Scholarships

These scholarships are for new students entering into Years 9–11 for 2025 and offers up to a 75% tuition fee discount, tenable to the completion of Year 12.

As a community, we aspire to be people of integrity who act with humility, kindness, courage and respect. These scholarships are character based and applicants are invited to share their involvement and passions in leadership, volunteering, involvement in the wider community, co-curricular endeavours and how they would be a positive contributor to everyday school life at º£½ÇÖ±²¥app.

This scholarship is means tested and is available to a student who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend the School.

Metal Urges Scholarship for Design and Production in Wood and Metal

This scholarship is for a new student entering Years 9–11 in 2025 and offers up to a 50% tuition fee discount, tenable to the completion of Year 12.

This scholarship presents an exciting opportunity for an imaginative student, who has a natural tendency to make and create in metalwork/woodwork, and is passionate in the area of design to realise their creative potential at The º£½ÇÖ±²¥app School.

Academic Scholarships

Academic Scholarships are offered for entry at Year 5, 7 and 11 in 2025. Scholarships offer discounts on tuition fees of 50% and 60%. Scholarships are granted for the duration of the student’s education and are subject to the maintenance of excellent academic performance levels as well as contributing to the life of the School. Students may hold only one scholarship at a time.

A student who holds a scholarship from a previous entry is eligible to sit for a higher value scholarship when they reach the appropriate year. If they are then awarded the higher value scholarship they forfeit the previous one.

Academic Scholarship tests are conducted by Edutest, an independent assessor. All applicants are required to sit this scholarship test and some will be invited to attend a subsequent formal interview. The testing will take place on Saturday 2 March 2024 (if your child is not able to sit the scholarship examination on this date, please make contact with Mrs Emma Griffiths at enrolment@hutchins.tas.edu.au to discuss).

All academic scholarships are available to new and current students.

  • The D H Harvey Scholarship offers a 60% tuition fee discount

Year 7

  • The Newcastle & Board Scholarship offers a 60% tuition fee discount
  • The F R S Dawes Scholarship offers a 60% tuition fee discount
  • The Robt Nettlefold Scholarship offers a 60% tuition fee discount

Year 11

  • The Arthur Park Memorial Scholarship offers a 50% tuition fee discount

Cyril Henry Eagle Knight Science Scholarship

This scholarship is for current or new students entering Years 9–12 for 2025 and offers a 50% tuition fee discount, tenable to the completion of Year 12.

Stephen Gumley Scholarship

This scholarship is for new students entering Year 7 and offers a 50% tuition fee discount.

Important information: This scholarship is academic based and is specific to mathematics and science. All applicants must be Tasmanian born from a Tasmanian resident family not previously educated at the School.

The John Edwards Family Scholarship

This scholarship is for new students entering Years 7–11. This scholarship is up to 50% of tuition fees and is tenable to completion of Year 12.

This scholarship is means-tested and is available to students who may not have the opportunity to attend the School. Selection of applicants will be based on demonstration of The º£½ÇÖ±²¥app School values and community involvement.

This scholarship is not due to be awarded in 2025.

º£½ÇÖ±²¥app School Old Boys’ Association Scholarship

This scholarship is for a new student entering into Years 7–12 and offers up to a 50% tuition fee discount.
